Great old school burger joint! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Amazing classical summer foods, and great staff, kept clean!
The food is ok but for what they are charging for burgers and fries I should have just gone to McDonalds
The hype is real! We came to find out why everyone likes this place. The food and service is great. It’s quick fast food. The ice cream is great. They just renovated and the place looks even better!
I really wish I could give them 5 stars. Ive been coming here since I was a kid, the food and ice cream are still great but the service is lacking. I had to stand at the counter for five min while being ignored, finally after they helped someone who came in after me I had to ask someone if i could put in an order. Staff in these types of places should be happy and eager to help, the guy I was dealing with has obviously been working here too long . He acted like I was bothering him and just seemed upset in general.
Fun place, good food
Great greasy burgers this place is good! They just expanded and added a huge dining room. Its not the cheapest fast food, but worth it. Outside has rides for the kids and stuff. Bring quarters! Mini golf next door too...
Best burgers, dogs, fried chicken all made to order. A little out of the way for me but I always stop there when I can. I know people who've made the trip up from NYC just to eat there. They very recently finished an expansion so you can eat inside. Sometimes (usually) there is a line to order and, since it is all made fresh a small wait after ordering, but definitely worth it. Simply the very best in American roadside dining. This site only goes up to 5 stars, but the Red Rooster is worth 10 or more.
A fun fast food stop that I've been going to since it opened in the 60's. Very convenient, just YARDS off RT 22. Beautiful outdoor seating, ample free parking, clean restrooms, well lit, coin-operated rides for toddlers and a very well maintained miniature golf course. Recommend: chilli dogs, hamburgers, hot dogs, dipped cones and shakes. A great place to stop, stretch your legs, walk the dog and grab some sustenance for the car ride on your way to the beautiful Berkshires!
Food is decent , but overpriced, the place it is always dirty . Despite the covid they still don't take cards, cash only ! wow
Family fun dinner outside at picnic tables feels very Covid safe!
Always on the lookout for road food I've been wanting to try the Red Rooster for a while now, finally was in the area the other day and stopped in. Wasn't too hungry and was in a hurry so I only tried a cheeseburger ( got the cheeseburger deluxe), very juicy and tasty. The deco and whole look of the place is great. Definitely want to come back when I have more time and a bigger appetite.
I have been going there since the late 80's when I used to work in the area, we moved out of the area but whenever we were close by we would detour a bit and eat there as a treat Stopped by today and saw they expanded ... a lot... my son said it doesn't feel like "Red Rooster in Brewster" anymore but rather a generic Mc Donalds and I agree. The burger was still made fresh and was fine but, I did think it seemed a bit less hearty than they have been in the past, but that could just be my imagination... it is still a good spot to stop for a quick burger/soft ice cream/hot dog place...
Food was overly expensive for the quality that you get. They call themselves they drive-in but there is no driving-in service. it's a family restaurant which is understandable that you would have allowed loud children but there's nothing to stop the sound from echoing around the dining room (they need noise dampening tiles on the ceiling). The retro designed establishment is kind of cute.
While working in Brewster, NY I came across this place and I'm glad I did, it's a classic hamburger stand basically! Only 2 tables inside to sitting (usually while waiting for your food) but the main seating is outside in the back and side lawn which is beautiful and has a great scenic view with woods behind it. The food is a little above average, I ate a double hamburger with fries.and a small soda. Hamburger was good, tasted like quality hamburger! The fries were disappointing, cooked a little too long which made them too crispy. This place is definitely overpriced, it cost me $15 for my meal, too much! Staff was very friendly! Overall it's good, I'd suggest for travelers to stop and enjoy the scenes and eat a decent hamburger.
Listen, the food is excellent. The ice cream is great. The place is clean. The one night I decide to take my little sister out there was a girl working. She wasn't very polite. I also didn't like the fact that she said the shake machine was down and the gentleman who's been there for probably as long as the place has been there tells her "No. It works." My sister had also ordered soft service. Because of the girls procrastination, the other woman began cleaning the machine. The girl (who I don't really like at this point) tells us "They're cleaning the machines so we have no soft serve." Oh ok. Any other time this place is great. That night was atrocious.
Nice place. Recently expanded the location to include new seating areas, both indoors, outdoors, and grass level benches. There's a bit of a line to order, because the main operation is still out of the old locale, but not a bad wait. There's enough variety to accommodate anyone's craving. There's soft serve ice cream, and different fried fish plates. Worth stopping by.
Burgers were small greasy and over priced. No refills. Cash only 3$ fee to use atm. Overall it was ok... althoe Would not come back for the price I paid.
I love this spot! They give splendid food, their menu is decent, The cook in that place is a real pro, I enjoy a lot eating all their dishes. The dishes are consistently good, the service towards the clients is helpful. I go often to this restaurant and I was never discontended. I highly recommend it.
Notified Cash only after waiting in line 20 min not cool $5 fees atm + bank fees.
This long standing local landmark has remained unchanged for decades...and that is why we love it. Don't change a good thing when the recipe is perfect! Great finger food and classic American fare. Finish it all off with a chocolate dip ice-cream cone and leave stuffed but happy.
A 20 minute wait for two chicken sandwiches seems excessive. The waffle fries were very good, and the outdoor seating is nice. I love the idea of the Red Rooster, but I've been to a few similar restaurants around the country that were all run much better than this one. The first time we went in, we left after standing in a line that didn't move for 15 minutes. Just a reminder that it's cash only.
Burgers ice cream what else could you want. Their burgers taste fresh. I live about 40min away so when ever I'm in the area I try and make a stop. One in a while I will just go ahead and take the drive. It so worth it!
horrible... over priced and me and my boyfriend were waiting outside the mini golf booth for 10 min and no employees were there. service was slow and wprkers we’re rude
Rooster has temporarily returned to its roots as a true drive in during this Covid crisis. The food is still as delicious as ever and they offer a full menu. Speedy curbside service and the best of the best long term crew ready to welcome you. Can't wait for mini golf to reopen!
It's a WONDERFUL place. Step back into 1964 with today's prices of courseCASH ONLY. CASH ONLY CASH ONLYLike I said. It's a wonderful place
Terrible, this place was once great. No doubt their icecream is great. But fries, hotdogs, burgers all overcooked. Will not go back.
Fun burger joint been going here for years like to stop him when I'm nearby.
5 stars if you continue doing curbside pickup- honestly I dont see me coming back without that continuing.
Love the ambiance. Great service. Beautiful restored old cars as part of some event this weekend
First time here but the service was incredible (ONLY CASH,💸) I got a chili cheese burger 🍔which was amazing with some chili cheese fries 🍟, it was even better. It was really clean insideCan't wait to come back. There was a lot of space to park.
I've been coming to the red rooster for 15 years. It has never failed to exceed expectations. The food is always fresh and great. This is an old school place serving old school fun. Don't miss it if you're driving by.
If you read through enough reviews for Red Rooster you’ll see people who are enamored by the classic American style burger building and branding, and then you’ll find the people who see this place for what it really is: overpriced, low-tier fast food with questionable service at best. Everything tastes like it was frozen, even the crusty buns on which your burger is served. The milkshakes are decent but regardless nothing seems fresh or particularly flavorful about it to warrant its price, its unorganized lines, or its unfriendly staff and cash only policy.Honestly, if you’re passing through the area on a road trip with your kids, you’re better off hitting the Burger King down the road.
Great place to go with the family to eat and i love the mini golf they have on the same property..ill be back. Terminator voice..lol 😎😷😷😎
No line at like noon in a Sunday. Great burgers and shakes. Fries are perfect. Been stopping by for 20 years and things are just as good as the first time!
Since the renovation there is finally room to breath inside and you can now wait in line covered from the summer sun (with AC). I'm not actually sure if they started taking credit (was cash only). They have great ice cream and food, and of course this historic establishment is a highlight of Brewster, so don't skip it during your visit!
Best drive-in food and shakes!
Great ice cream. Nice tonsit on the deck and people watch
Great food good burgers shakes love the onions rings!
Great roadside food stop with a good variety of food. Milkshakes are good and the fried onions are a must on any burger or hotdog. Small indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating when the weather is nice or take it to go and eat in your car. Open late Friday-Sunday so it's perfect for that late night craving. They also have a miniature golf course across the parking lot.
Home of the world's best milkshakes. They have two sizes, don't hold back, get the large. Luckily, it only takes me 45 minutes to get there.
Instead of McDonald's, we really need more of these everywhere. So much character. The food is unpretentious and satisfying, and fairly priced. Try the burger and shake. Dipped cones are phenomenal too.
I've stopped at this place every summer since I was a kid... good cheeseburger for the road, my favorite onion rings, awesome milkshakes. Great place to stop and eat with the dog at the nice outdoor eating area (picnic tables and trees). Cash only!
I miss the old Red Rooster. I will admit that they did a great job on the remodel. The food was very good.
Good simple food. The sign says chicken but they're famous for their burgers lolThe burgers are simple but delicious. The meat it not to thick, evenly cooked, toasted bun. It would've been a bit better if they made a sauce like a chipotle sauce for the burger.
Delicious "fast" food, spotless, friendly staff, lots of outdoor tables and coin-operated rides for kids. Fun!
It's great to see that this place has been able to keep the ambiance and taste from the '60s; it's poignant to see that the service isn't much so.
Great considering the times, the food tastes good.
Good chili dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries, etc...great milkshakes! I love stopping here whenever I'm in the area. Not a cheap meal, but the food is good, portions are decent, and the employees are friendly and helpful.
